If your are talking about front brakelines then you need new ones, and as far as the back goes you are good to go with your original lines from the ED30, in fact anyone wanting rear R32 brakes on their GTI and want them in red, only need to buy r32/s3 carriers get them powdercoated red, buy a set of r32/s3 brakediscs, and you can reuse the rest ofyour standard GTI/Cupra rear brake setup.

TIP OF THE DAY

Keith,

The ED30/GTi front brakes use a Banjo union at the caliper,

This is a picture of my ED30 caliper brake line set up, taken just a few mins ago..........

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fv211%2Fstokeballoon%2FIMG_0862.jpg&hash=7de678cfd53ff750d35e8e0480afe88bb0d5cced)

You can see the banjo bolt at the end of the flexi line.

The below pic is courtesy of Chungster and shows the R32/S3/Cupra caliper and the small rigid line, which the terminates straight onto the flexi, no banjo union at all.

Hope this helps.

What pads do you use as there will be a difference in disc thickness between solid and vented.

I've also read the S3 rear piston is 3mm bigger, so using the GTI caliper on S3 discs would make no difference surely as the same amount of pressure if being applied?  Correct me if I'm wrong.

The GTI caliper on S3 Discs would not work.  The vented S3 Disc is 25mm thick ( I think - It doesn't really matter) They are much thicker than the standard GTI solid unvented discs.    so the S3 Caliper is wider than the GTi

Dave

The hoses on toasts car I supplied, they're goodridge jobbies that do away with the short connecting pipe and have a 35 degree banjo fitting and a M10x1 short banjo bolt and a couple of crush washers make a nice job you can see the hydraulic inlet on the R32 caliper is canted over at 35 degrees or so.

You can either P clip the hose to the M8 hole that the bracket goes into or simply pass the banjo through the hole that the short connecting terminates abeam with a rubber grommet to secure it and stop it rubbing.

Im sure you'll agree the less joins the better!

PS got loads of these PM if you need some
