Title: new car advice
Post by: DDM on August 17, 2014, 11:21:08 am
morning all, after a long time thinking exactly what car to look for I've  decided on a mk6 golf gti, the advice i'm after is based on the following, i had a skoda vrs tfsi in just the other month for some work and when delivering it back to the customer i thought it didn't pull any where near like my mk5 golf gt tdi sport 140 bhp  ( which is completely standard), now before anyone thinks i caned a customers car, i certainly didn't, it was just a case of how it pulled out of my garage onto the main road and upto 60 mph. so the question is would a mk6 golf gti be similar to the skoda? any advice appreciated.

The 140 TDI has more torque than the GTI (320nm - up from 280nm) so perhaps that was why. I'm considering doing the opposite swap myself as I'm after something more economical  :sad1:

Are you aware of the issue's with the 2.0 TSI engines timing chain and related components?

For example...

as right, cheers for that, the gti is just going to be a bit of a toy for me, still going to keep the mk5 as our family car as it's just been faultless for the last 5 yrs.

no I wasn't aware of this, thanks bud, I take it this is the same engine as fitted in the mk6 gti, the one i'm looking at is a 2010 model with 22,000 miles so fits in with the link you provided.
