Title: oil filler cap, what's going on?
Post by: #ed30 on August 18, 2014, 05:47:32 pm
Ok so I noticed a while back that part of my oil filler cap was missing. So it was still sealed shut but the top but that you grip to unscrew, well that had come off. I put it down to a mech breaking it when in the garage. So I ordered a new one from vw about a month ago and I've just gone to check something under the bonnet, opened the bonnet and it's done it again, only this time the top half of the cap was wedged by the expansion tank.

Totally confused.

Anyone else had this?

Any ideas?

Happened to me a few times. Check that your engine cover is secured properly. This was the issue for me in my example.it was moving around and flicking the top of the oil cover off.
