Title: broken gas strut mounting bolt

The gas strut on my hatch has broke away from the bodywork side and totally stripped all the threads away, any ideas on how to fix the problem. Looks like a trip to the body shop.

easily fixed with a rivnut, need a special tool to insert it, but can be done using a bolt, nut and washers
