Title: Cylinder 1 misfire :-(
Post by: mk4gti-t on August 20, 2014, 06:31:49 pm
Earlier today i suffered what i thaught was a misfire. It only happens on WOT and under load. Scanned for faults and the only ones that came up were to do with the flapper motor issue that i already know about. Ran some logs and found cylinder 1 misfires. Possible causes? I'm thinking plug and/or coil pack. Anything else i should be looking for? Also this might sound like a stupid question but which is cylinder 1? I'm assuming it's the far left cylinder. Cheers.

Injector is another high possibility as these cars seem to be suffering with injector missfire and un-smooth idling issues , anything over 60k miles , then add that to your list of possibles.

Number 1 will be nearest the cambelt.

Cylinders  3&4 are most common for misfires as they are closers to the PCV so get the most gunk coming in.

Try spark plugs first as they are a cheap fix, maybe swap coil packs around to see if the fault moves with the coil.

Worst case as Steve said is an injector  :sad1:

Cheers for the advice. Ive ordered a set of NGK BKR7EIX so hopefully that will sort it out. By the way i'm currently running some nology plugs that i brought off a member on here. Only read bad things about them since i fitted them  :scared:

It's recently come about that nologys are no longer recommended for our cars  :scared:

Plugs cleaned and gapped as it looked massive and running better than ever now. I've ordered some new ngk iridiums though as these nology's are a bit suspect now. Cheers  :happy2:
