Title: Wired noise when turning right
Post by: MichaelR on August 22, 2014, 07:35:30 am
Hi guys

I have a weird grindy whirry noise when I turn right. It happens at all speeds and in every gear, in and out of gear. It starts at probably quarter of a turn. I noticed it a month or so ago and it's gradually got worse.

I've tried to video the sound. Got some right funny looks circling a roundabout at low speed!

Any ideas?  It's a 08 ED30 btw, 52k miles

Cheers!

Bearings on the way out? Coil spring snapped?

That sound you're describing would only kick in after about a quarter turn and will progressively get worse as you eat more and more into the rubber bearing housing.

I say this because I've gone through 2 sets already and now it's happening again!

don't think it's a wheel bearing, they usually give of a droning noise that gets more or less when you corner, i'd start by checking all the tyres to make sure you havn't got an egg shaped one first.

Sounds like police chasing you, no, could be knackered tyre, try swapping that one with one of the rears, see if it goes away

Cheers for the suggestions guys.

Seems to have stopped? I haven't heard it in about a week now. Hmm

I had a noise very similar to this on my mk4, I had new tyres put on and that didn't fix it... I would say wheel bearing mate
