Title: How do I use jetseal 109?
Post by: lukemk5gti on August 22, 2014, 09:49:50 pm
So I'm all set for full exterior detail tomorrow.

After wash etc. I'm applying 1 coat of glossworks glaze

Now I need to apply jetseal.
I thought I could apply up to 3 coats for maximum protection?

It says to let dry for 20mins so do I wait 20mins buff clean and apply another layer etc.

Now it says don't was after but can apply wax after I've waited the final 20mins?

Also does anyone use jetseal on their plastic trims?

I think its:

Put it on
Leave it 20mins
Buff out
Leave an hour
Put another layer on
Buff it off

Leave it a while

Wax

I dont think it would work well on plastic trim

As joe says it doesn't like plastic trim and has a habit of staining

^^^^ this apart from you dont have to wait an hour in between, 20 mins is fine, then another coat, 20 mins, then apply 1-2 coats of wax for extra gloss and protection .

My process was jetseal first panel and set timer for 20mins.
Finish all panels and when timer goes off buff entire car down.
I then waited an hour before repeating!

Guess I didn't have to wait the hour but it gave me time to work on the other parts!

Slightly off topic but I detailed my car the other day including paint restore to remove swirls.
Now say in a few month would I only apply the jetseal or would I apply a low cut polish and then seal?

I had the exact same question as I only got a huge range of polishes and pads and didn't want to remove all my detailing hard work.

I'm going to say that if you jetseal, layer up etc. then you apply a thin coating all over the car to protect it from contaminants.

By polishing you would remove the majority of this coating. Now this is only my thoughts but I can't see why you wouldn't remove it.

I figure if you want to polish then you're going to have to reseal it all again afterwards so I'm waiting a few more months to reap the benefit of my jetseal before polishing.

I'm happy to be corrected on this but I'd be sure that an abrasive polish would have to remove the jetseal. Let me know if you get any other info on this!

any abrasive would remove any protective coating.... if you've had your car professionally detailed then you should be good for 6 months at least before you need to re-wax... and you shouldn't need to repolish it at all if you wash and dry it properly.
