Title: Leon TDi Sport, New Wheels Fitted
Post by: chrisr on August 23, 2014, 07:23:12 am
Not exactly a MK5 but it is its close cousin

Most of my Motoring life has been with the VAG Group ranging from a Corrado to MK4 1.4 Golf, Red MK4 Golf Anni, MK4 R32, MK5 GT TDi, Then my last one was a 54 plate Blck Cupra R.

I then went into Subaru Ownership for a couple of years but with the rising cost of fuel im pleased to say im now back in the VAG group ownership again :funk:

Last night I did a 5 hour round trip to go to see a MK2 Leon TDi sport. I did the worst thing ever & went to see it in the dark

Left our house at 9:30 pm & arrived at the car at just gone 11:30 pm.

After a good look round it with an LED torch to show any new paint & performing the usual HPI & MOT Mileage history checks I took it for a drive.

I had forgot how comfy VAG cars actually were compared to my Impreza.

The Leon drove faultless & pulled really well in all gears, No funny noises or clunks.

Anyway a deal was struck & I then made the 2 1/2 hour drive home. It never missed a beat & drove perfectly.

On the way back I did find 2 little issues, 1 was that there was a headlight out & the other was the wipers were a load of cr@p (Not good when driving down unlit country roads & heavy rain :D)

Got home at 3 am this morning & had to be up again at 6:30 to go to work, The car looks very streight in the day light :funk:

Today I bought Valeo Aero blades & Hella uprated bulbs so now there are no little niggly issues.

Just put it on VCDS & only a couple of small errors showing (Alarm sensors & Headlight bulb not working) so quite happy.

Some pics taken this morning before work.

Not a bad spec including cruise control, Sports seats & dual zone climate.

Plans for Tomorrow are to go to work in it & give it a good clean, Will upload pics once done.

Looks well dude.

So what are the proper plans?

They are my "Proper" plans for today (Didnt say plans overall though )

Long term the plans are a set of BBS CH Style Alloys, OEM Nav or Android Double din in OEM style, Re-map at Awesome GTi & then undecided if I should go down the BTCC Route or just the FR styling.

Very nice. Nearly got a Leon myself :happy2:

I think I can honestly say that its probably the best car I have owned so far.

Looks tidy and similar to what I had before, they are a bargain for what they are.

That alarm sensor error in VCDS you mention is very common. I had it and so did quite a few guys on the SEAT forum. Its safe to ignore  :happy2:

Been working 7 days a week since 1st of September so not really had any time for doing anything to the car so today I had a day off & popped in to see Jake.

Finally got round to having the wind deflectors fitted that I have had sat in my boot since the 2nd day of owning the car!!

Cheers mate,

They are staggered fit 8 front & 9 rear, Im toying with the idea of a set of coilovers now though as it could do with a little drop I think.

If you can lower it, it would improve aesthetically, no doubts about it. Still on the stock sport springs?

Either go low on good coilovers or on good springs (that are much cheaper than good coilovers). Cheap coilovers won't give you a good dynamic to your ride. They'll just look good.

depends upon the brand, I have joms and tbh the ride is fine. esp when I compare it to my other cars with kw etc

Think it will be Jom's or FK Street coilovers
