Well after becoming a little impatient with the slow market and lack of white edition 30's for sale, I am off t look at a cupra K1 tomorrow in the best colour scheme, white / black.
I know they are not the same interior quality, but it does come with the right engine, right brakes and with the "integrated" back doors, a little more practical.
Will let you lot know how i get on tomorrow, the car is local to me too which is an added bonus.
Just cover your eyes on the dash pictures
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1323484.htm
-
I was guna say, dust! Lol. Get them rear lights off if you buy it too lol
-
Great looking car, go for it. And repaint the dash!
-
indeed, fettle the dash, bin the rear lights  buy buy buy
-
The clocks look like they have been taken from an opel manta  However, I suppose that is why Seat's are a bit cheaper than VW's and im sure i will be able to live with them.........after a while
Kev

All you've got to ask yourself, is when driving along in your K1, if you saw an Edition 30, what would you think?
-
Shame they removed the directional xenon's as standard. Looks nice, my brother had just ordered a new Leon FR DSG in white/black for his new company car.
-
All you've got to ask yourself, is when driving along in your K1, if you saw an Edition 30, what would you think?
It wont be a white edition 30, they don't exist
-
It wont be a white edition 30, they don't exist
....Yes they do - Golfgirl on here has one.
-
Im jesting, i know they exist but they are like rocking horse poo :happy2:
-
good choice :)
-
Looks nice mate! As has been said, ditch the rear lights and play around with the dash and your sorted! :happy2:
-
Nice find dude. I saw a white Edition 30 today for sale at my local VE dealer in Leeds, it is a five door and looks tidy. Not sure exactly what spec your after but the Seat looks like a good base. Are you sure you want it over the Ed30? :pomppomp:
Oh and white ones do exist... proof :innocent:

:star:
-
Is there anything that can be done with the dash to make it better ???
Kev
-
Paint it in gloss black
-
or get it covered like - is it plush automotive on here ..?
not that he covered his dash but the dash strips in the golf.
-
I actually prefer the Leon over a five door GTI(which I have).
If only they did a DSG Cupra!!!
Great choice.. The dash does look a lot better with NAV in it tho
-
Get it wrapped, looks so much better.

nice car. they do a DSG FR Leon with the new TSI engine. Im currently trying to convince the misses to go for the Ibiza Cupra 180PS DSG
-
Guess the seller works for Shell!!
As well as getting the dash trim wrapped you could change the colours of the AC controls as posted in another thread a coulple of days back...looks smert!
-
He does indeed work for shell as can be seen from one of the pics :happy2:
Already been looking at modifications to the dash, these make the dials look a little better

Only hope im not going to regret not waiting for a white edition 30 :scared:
Kev.
-
Er did i not mention Cupra a while back and you said you didn't like them? :signLOL:
That one has no Bluetooth which you might want to consider plus no Xenons.
Good cars tho.
-
Changed my mind...i think
-
Where you from? Could try mine.
-
Im up near Aberdeen. Peterhead to be specific.
-
why not just put a gti or s3 dash in it?? if your pals with plush, im sure it wouldnt be a problem!
-
CARRG , How can you tell if it has bluetooth ?
Kev
-
CARRG , How can you tell if it has bluetooth ?
Kev
Ah miles apart! South Wales here.
If it has BT it will have the larger screen/display inbetween the clocks.
I'll try and find an image or run out and take one of mine. :happy2:
-
Ah ok, I dont think it will make a huge odds to me, having the bluetooth would of been an added bonus, but not really essential for me.
I appreciate your kind offer of letting me have a shot in your car, very thoughtfull of you. :drinking: being in S.Wales makes it a tad difficult though

No probs mate. :drinking: I've been in two minds to sell mine. It doesn't come out of the garage much!!
Do some research or i'll find some links there's more to the MFD than BT.
-
All you've got to ask yourself, is when driving along in your K1, if you saw an Edition 30, what would you think?
2nd that, think you should wait, and not be rushed into getting a car thats not what you wanted origonally.
-
I was supposed to be looking at this car today but the weather up here is absolutely horrific, i guess it will be tomorrow now
-
i say go for it mate , the k1 in white looks awe some , get the dash wrapped imo looks good :happy2:
-
I was guna say, dust! Lol. Get them rear lights off if you buy it too lol
So what over rear lights do you have in mind mate.
-
Cameron Motors (Perth) have a Candy Ed 30, 11,000 miles on an 08! :happy2:
-
£21795 :surprised: 18 months old car ffs :sad1:
-
£21795 :surprised: 18 months old car ffs :sad1:
Ouch :scared:
-
worth every penny :happy2:
-
you ll have to pay that if you want one mate , the dealer who had mine gave me what he was selling it for !! i seen a 57 plate r32 for sale today with no extra s at all £20995 used car prices are high , if you want a good car for less money the k1 is the one for you :happy2:
-
I think you are right mate. The same dealer in Perth has an 08 Pirelli with 9K on clock for £18995, thats basically 3K difference for white paintwork
-
what colour is the pirelli ? if you like the interior the pirelli has to be more desireable not so many around ,is it a 3 door ? imo 5 door golfs dont look so good :happy2:
-
Its a black Pirelli, not really after a black car again.
-
Wait for the right ED30, you will only wish you had when your £16,500 lighter
-
time to dig these beauties up again ......

Seems like a good time to be owning an edition 30, they are appreciating at a nice rate, you boys will be able to retire on the strength of the price of your cars. :jumpmove:
-
its only the white ones , though just sold mine !!!!!!!!! i think when the golf r is out the prices will drop again
-
There is a black Edition 30 3 door with 30k, £17k and they also have a Candy white 5 door for about 18-19k I think. Leeds Volkswagen. Might be worth checking out?
-
Ive read your threads re. finding a CW Ed30 with interest but I cant remember whether you said a silver one is a no no! If ok, there is one at Smith Knight - Bolton for a touch under 16k Looks great :happy2:
The Ed30 looks nicer than the Seat IMHO but Im sure its a great car - good luck with the search mate.
-
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/794227.htm (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/794227.htm)
Paint the wheels gloss black, lower it and stick a gloss black badge on the front, then you've got an awesome looking car!
I wouldn't go for the Cupra, every time you see an Ed30 you'll wonder whether you've made the right decision.
-
Just found this one with less than 5K miles and with bluetooth. 2008 08 plate for under 16K. Might be the one for me :jumping:
http://www.evanshalshaw.com/vehiclesearch/used/seat-used-car-vk08uvo.html?qs=false&type=1
-
so what u waiting for get your arse there now :booty:
-
Nice.
What was the miles on the one near you on PH?
-
16K is the mileage on one at aberdeen and no BT
-
Dealer away to have a look round the car to make sure it is absolutely mint, no marks on wheels, etc......fingers crossed :jumping:
-
Good luck mate. Thats 80 miles from me. All their cars seem reasonably priced!
-
Just had a phone call from dealers, deeply apologetic, the car has been priced wrongly, should of been £17794 . Pretty gutted, had flights all priced and was going down in morning for it.....what a joke !!!! :sad1:
-

You seriously should ditch the idea of the SEAT.You are kidding yourself if you think they are the same sar. (engine yes) but seriously hold on to your money. Sorry SEAT Chaps in here, but once youve spent it, youve lost 4 grand straight away on part ex on one later.
It is not the same car, because of just its engine.
-
I've already had the rug pulled from under my feet today .....go easy
-
What makes things worse is the lad from aberdeen with his K1 texted me today to see if i was still interested because there was other interest in the car. I told him I had sourced a cheaper car down south and to give the other lad first dibs.....nightmare !
-
Seriously, go sit in an edition30 and go sit in a Seat Cupra, which one could you live with to look at when your sat in the drivers seat???.
That for me would be enough reason to sit on your dosh till one shows up shortly mate.
-
I know the interior quality is quite important, but i have come from 4 subaru impreza sti's, now their interiors look like they have been made of melted down lego bricks, i managed to live with them all because they were fantastic cars in their own rights in other departments.
The leon is not up to the quality of the golf and that is reflected in the price tag. Audi s3 owners could argue the same point about sitting in an edition 30 and then an s3, they would say the edition 30 is poor. It all depends on how much money you have to spend i suppose, K1 08 plate 16 grand, Ed 30 08 plate 18 grand (except white ), s3 08 plate 21-22 grand......its a slippery slope.
Kev.

Your right its not the same car, ours are quicker round the track :P
I paid 17.5k for my cupra k1 brand new 9 months ago.
58 plate in my local dealers is up for 18.5k which has the same options but isnt even white. The one on piston heads, older than mine, more mileage, up for 16.5k. People over on SCN have paid less for a brand new k1 than I have. White k1's are holding their value, people are still paying 19k for late models.
How much have you lost in depreciation? :rolleye:
At the end of the day the difference between the ed30 and the cupra is the interior or the brakes. I personally for one dont sleep in my car, I like to drive it hard, and the cupra is better equipped to do so. You obviously rated interior looks over better brakes, I did the opposite, and now its time for subaru26675 to do the same.
The fact that the GTI ed30 brakes are small made it a 2 pony race between the s3 and cupra for me when I was looking to buy.
-
i like most of the Seat K1 except for the hideous interior LOL, i have had a cupra in the past and the biggest let down for me is the interiors
-
i've gone from a mk5 golf with full leather to an A3 Sline to the Cupra, and i honeslty don't find the interior that bad, the seats are way better than the golfs and you don't get the cheap looking leather that sags. Yes the dash looks different and the door panels are a little more plasticy but I bet they are made from a similar product and its just the graining thats different. I paid 14k for my cupra having lost 6500 on the A3 and £8250 on a golf, I would be doing very well to lose that much on the cupra.
I know this is a golf forum but i thought i would take a chance :) still Golf/S3 or cupra they are all good and the performance is great.
-
maybe get straight what car you really want and which one you need
else this is just going to turn into a dick measuring contest over the ED30 and Seat
if your coming from a scooby, what you'll lose in grunt you gain in quality from either car...just varing levels between the two, both in build and in performance
i love the looks of the cupra, dont discount it because of residuals, its a sooperb car, simples, the golf is a golf and i'm biased but will always be my preference for a car to live with on a daily basis, both to drive and to experience the cockpit
-
the k1 looks better than a 5 door golf imo any way , i believe the seat has better brakes and more focused suspension thats what seat sales told me when i was looking BUT i brought the edition 30
i ve got an s3 now and the build quality is noticable better than the golf but not by much :happy2:
-

out the box the seat looks better all round , i think even the ed 30 needs mods to look this good :happy2:
-
i love this thing about the better brakes, dont make me  u can keep your larger brakes :rolleye: not better and i will have my nice golf :P. i came from a cupra r 225 that had great brakes and i was going to buy the cupra as i was waiting for them to turn up at my local dealers but the second i sat in it i thought my cupra r was better inside, i was gutted as i so wanted that car :sad1: and to buy those brakes u have on yours can be done for a few hundred £ so :P. I still love the look of the cupra but the inside is the only let down and that is what u see when u are in it simple fact. The day that car came out all the lads on cupra net could not wait for it but after we all sat in it we all got a bit pissed with dash layout but as i have seen from people who have played with the inside it can look better if u try
-
theres a gnats pube between them i think :happy2:
we're going for a test drive in the new bocanegra at the weekend and coming from big vw fans its going to be a tough desision even without sitting in one but with the new polo being a bit slow and expensive we are really keen to give seat a go, im pretty sure in the future they will hold value almost as well as veedubs once people realise they are decent too. well i hope so anyway if we do fork out for one! she wanted an abarth 500 but the maintenence package doesnt exist so we worried it might fall apart!! :chicken:
-

Got a fiat 500 1.2 and fiat cant even get that right so I would hate to see what happens when things get complicated with a turbo'd lump.
The owner of AMD Essex, his mother has a 500 also and has had loads of trouble with it. Fun to drive though.
-
My bro's not had any problems with his 500 Arbath Essessessessess thingy
-
had a 1.4 sport 500 in jersey, lights flashed and the handbrake stuck but i would still have one, they are great little cars.
-
Ford KA shares the same chassis but apparently ford hsve made a better job of it
-
I've had my 500 Abarth for nearly 4 months now, 2500 miles driving roughly and its been faultless, Fiat have upped thier game, have to say in the past I wouldn't have dreamed of owning one but there's something special about the Abarth 500. I thoroughly recommend it, people who haven't owned one will always take cheap shots at Fiat(often warranted lol) but I love my car and he's been 100% spot on.
Here he is: (Iphone Pic)

Sooner have a Cooper S, which is what im after. How are you finding a smaller car?
Nice rims btw :happy2:
To the OP, it seems that you were dead set on a ED30 or S3 so I would wait it out till the right one comes up if I were you, the K1 is nice but there are far too many diesel replicas around and they are not as nice as the Golf.
-
Wife has a Golf so anything long distance or requiring more room we use it instead so the size doesn't matter lol.
Wife owned a Cooper and I'd a Cooper Convertible, good cars but in my opinion are old hat now and don't have the character of the 500.
Theres some really good tuning options now for the 500 as its the flavour of the month with various tuners racing to out do each other. As yet mine is standard though I'm considering giving Sanspeed a go, they do a Milltek Tbe, Intake, remap and larger Turbo to take the car to 220 Bhp for a reasonable price.
Anyone have any experience of Sanspeed, they any good?

 If only there were some about
-
Wait for the golf. Seems like that is what you want, so wait for it.
-
For the amount of money your gonna be spending dont rush into anything and certenly dont buy something you dont really want just for the sake of having a new ride. You wanted a ED30 so just wait and buy one when it comes up.
I went through the same thing looking for the right mk5 gti, i know theres plenty out there to choose from but it doesnt make it anymore easy coz all the ones i went to see werent right and it took me a few months but the right one eventually came up  .
-
How much have you lost in depreciation? :rolleye:
:signLOL:
If you want to know, i payed 18k for mine March 08 and she's worth that figure still now..... £18k. This forum know i payed that
So depreciation for me with the ed30 is not a problem.
Sorry im sure as you say this is a golf forum, so oppinions WILL be towards the ed30.
I couldnt live with the interia, and sit and stare at it going from the ed30 to a K1.
As MAT ED30 has said, you see the car from the inside .The SEAT is cheaper to purchase, and thats the reason why imo.
And i dont trackday my car from day to day, i drive it on the public highways normally
:drinking:

lol you got a good deal on the ED30, like I did on the K1.
But its clear the differences between the two of us. Im the more serious driver
:happy2:
-
^^ indeed :happy2:
-
I quite like the Seat, but the rear lights are  Its funny....if you say to a seat owner, "Seat's are spanish rubbish" , the first words they will say is, "What, they are basically a volkswagen". I also find that VW advert to be very true. The one with everyone comparing this and that to being "just like the golf". Then at the end the ad says, "Why have a car thats like a golf? When you can have a golf"
I don't know why, but to me, I wouldn't put Seat in the same league as VW.
To me Seat are more Peugeot or Renault...... but not quite Fiat or Citroen! :scared:
-
Just my opinion, and it seems quite a few others but the dash is totally gash. And for that reason forum.... I'm Out!
(of the seat and in the golf)
-
People will look at you and presume you couldnt afford the golf. If that doesnt bother you and you can live with the awful interior, rear looks and the fact you will always defend it by informing people its like a golf...go for it :happy2:
The ED30 will be worth more in the future i think, only people in to cars know the seat is basically a golf so will never hold value quite as well. The VAG range is huge and the amount of similar cars is crazy! You can get an A3 3.2 (basically an R32 with a different manifold and suspensions set up) for 8 grand! The new Golf R is just an S3 with a 30k+ price tag!
Buy which one you like and be happy with it, im a materialistic show off so id have to get the golf :signLOL:

I thought you had left us. :sad1:
Here you go again with your same old crap, telling us how much everything is worth and what the car is really once the badges come off.
Surely you should be running a motoring magazine, with your in depth knowledge of why people buy cars and what they are worth.
Very tiring reading the same sh*t in every thread from you Jules.
You are starting to become our forum troll.

Why when people ask for opinions do i need to echo everone else on here, would be a sh*t forum if we all wrote the lovely replies and copied each other!
I would like to think i have one of the most helpful threads on here so your post is slightly contradictive im afraid

Jules, While you think you are being helpful to the op, by posting stuff like this.
People will look at you and presume you couldnt afford the golf. If that doesnt bother you and you can live with the awful interior, rear looks and the fact you will always defend it by informing people its like a golf...go for it
You are just being disrespectful to Cupra owners thinking you know why they chose to buy that particular car. Which is fine i dont mind people thinking your self opinionated fool, but what i dont want is our members biting back and turning the threads into the same old same old, were you get really defensive and upset and it ends in you telling us how great you are because you order thousands of shelf stackers about. :happy2:
( Meooow! )

Just boring now mate. I suggest you read through the thread to see the other similar views which echo mine, albeit with a more subtle approach. You're simply being juvenile now trying to emote a response from me by bringing up my job and using minor insults such as opinionated fool.
If you have any further problems pm me and stop ruining other peoples threads as its not on.
-
Hey! self opinionated was meant to be a major insult. :driver:
I picked on you because you do it all the time, and its you, who we are getting complaints about lately.
I have said it in other threads Jules, we are not going to let this place get like the American forums which are just painful to read.
If that means stopping you posting because your to stupid to realize you are being disrespectful then we will.
And as one great moderator keeps reminding us and i quote.
Its about time they realized its not a democracy. :
