Hi all, I retro fitted the oem updated 10 speaker system, that adds the mid to the front doors from the 8 I had (no mid at front), I also got the new loom that made it plug and play. All went ok all except I noticed my set up does not have any cross overs in the doors nor an amp under the seats. It simply has 2 wires coming from head unit through the door to the sub in the door then splits to the rest of the speakers. Is this normal? Ideally I'd like to retro fit the crossover I got in the set too, but if have no idea where to start with just the 2 wires coming into the door...
Tbh was surprised to see the was no crossover at all in the door as all the guides I had read suggested all set ups have them even the 8 speakers.
It sounds much better now with the extra mid in each door but I can't help but feel that crossovers will help even more.
Cheers.

buy some crossovers

That's the thing ed, I have the updated cross overs but didn't have any installed in the car... Any ideas how can I fit the crossovers? I only have 2 wires coming from the head unit into each door but the crossovers have 10 pins, I don't have the connector in the door to plug into it though so would have to make something up. I suppose I need to see the wiring diagrams for the doors with crossover already...

Ok I've figured out the connector I need to buy and the wiring loom I need to make up, plus I only found the wiring diagram too (here if anyone ever needs it http://www.meinwirt.com/webserver/vwvortex/radio/mk5audio/)
Question is will the effort be worth it? Will I be able to tell the difference between the 10 speakers as they currently are (without crossover) then with the crossover fitted....?
Cheers

Btw, it made a huge difference, crossover is most definitely needed, pretty happy I did it all properly now!

Fancied doing this myself, was it difficult?

Not too difficult if you are comfortable with wiring, soldering etc was tricky but straightforward with planning beforehand pal
