Title: Epc and traction control light on.
Post by: pd9264 on August 24, 2014, 07:39:04 pm
Put my foot down in my car today and lost power went into limp mode. Epc and traction control light on. Also the cel come on as well but went of when restarted. It's done this before about a month ago but turned car on the day after and every thing was ok. Had a look through the search and most people say its throttle body. Any clues before I book it in to get looked at. Maybe something simple I can check first.

I would've said Throttle Body too (replace with RevQ when and if you do) --- perhaps a realignment, do you have VCDS?

Sounds the same as when my throttle body was replaced. What plugs do you have in?

Lol the nology silver ones i think. It only happends when i floor it. And when the lights come on if i turn it off and restart it almost dies then revs up to normal idle.. Leave it for about an hour then its fine again. Its has felt abit flat latlely aswell. Seems like a lot of flat spots as its climbing up the revs. Not massively but just  abit of..

Id recommend oem plugs or ngk bkr irridoums ASAP! Hopefully you'll get away without having to renew the throttle body

Throttle body mate..i had the same symptoms and replaced it and it was all fine!I also would advise to replace it with a revision Q as thats the latest one i believe.

+ 1 for throttle body.
Had exactly this with mine a few weeks ago. Old TB was made by VDO and the new one was a Continental part. To date my servicing agent hadn't seen a Continental part fail but has seen numerous VDO parts fail. He or I aren't claiming anything by this, just an observation.  :happy2:
