Hi chaps,
I'm new to the site and have a quick question. If this Is in the wrong section please say and I will try have it moved. I'm getting my MK5 GTI steering wheel re trimmed in alcantara next week and the guy doing it will take the wheel off and replace it with a standard golf wheel.
My question for everyone is will this new steering affect anything with the car? (Driving, steering, fault codes) My golf is a DSG with flappy paddle behind the wheel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will probably have to reset the steering angle sensor etc.
Usually a case of:
Ignition and engine on
Full turn to left lock and hold for 5-10 seconds
Full turn to right lock and hold for 5-10 seconds
Centre the the wheel
Drive slowly forward for about 5 metres or something (iv not had to do this part before)
Lights should go off and be back to normal

Had my wheel re trimmed and I replaced my dsg 'flapy' wheel
with a standard non dsg flapy wheel while it was re trimmed and had no problems

Brilliant thanks for that. So it wouldn't matter that the new stock wheel won't have paddle functions? It's only temporary for about 2 weeks I'd say
