I was driving yesterday when I noticed between 1500 and 2500 rpm there was a slight tapping sound from the engine area, nothing unusual so as I was driving the oil pressure warning came up telling me to turn off engine.
As I went to check engine oil level it was on the max level but that tapping sound by now got really loud and is now continous.
What does it sound like?

Sounds like you have a blockage, its most likely your pickup pipe (do not drive it like this!)
I assume the light was red?
-
that sounds expensive, as above I would check oil pickup pipe and not run it until you have.

Yes the light was red, alright I will get that checked first. What could the tapping sound be though?

The tapping noise is your engine literally dying. Same thing happened to me a few months ago. Don't start it again. It's more than likely going to be your pick up pipe blocked.

Did you manage to sort it out by cleaning/replacing the pick up pipe?

Sorry for the late reply. Replaced the pick up pipe, Oil and filter change and luckily it survived. Did you get yours sorted?
