You see loads of "what's the best product" posts on here so wondered what are the "worst products" people have used either because they're generally cr@p, not value for money or even ended up doing more damage in the end.........Anyway my top 3 are as follows -
Merr polish - very easy to use and i always liked the little tub it comes in but it literally only lasts about a week.
3M trye restorer - great job initially but again fades quickly and then leaves your tryes looking grey.
Autoglym Aqua Blade - My mate bought one and thought it was ace until he saw his paintwork was covered in very fine scratches having looked at it in good light, to me it just seems a very stupid idea as the slightest of contaminants on the paint work will be dragged all over the place and cause damage.

I've bought a good amount of detailing gear and be happy with everything from what I can remember apart from megs engine dressing, used it twice and hate it, it's just so greasy/doesn't dry so that got replaced with aerospace 303 :happy2: spot on now.

This and autoglym's wash shampoo. Need to use half the bottle to get any suds.

Lack of suds does not equate to a poor shampoo. AG shampoo is actually pretty good in terms of lubricity and cleaning power, though your wash mitt will play a part also.
For me, Simoniz Original paste wax makes no sense in today's market. Very good in terms of shine and durability, but it is incredibly tedious to apply and remove, there are better options out there even at its low price point.

True, but it genuinely just feels like your using plain water when washing with anything less than half a bottle at a time. Doesn't feel to be providing any sort of lubrication/function

It's ment to be a low foam/suds shampoo, that's how it was designed.

Totally agree about the Simoniz. It seems to do a good job if you wipe it straight off (and the instructions say not to let it dry). But it dries ridiculously fast and is impossible to remove when it does.
I used some on my wheels, and it was alright.
However, I tried to apply it to the top half of the door on my land rover (I had to DA the top half of it after spraying the roof bars and stupidly not really masking it ... Overspray EVERYWHERE!!!) but by the time I had finished applying it, it had dried on and was stuck fast! Had to use some serious elbow grease to get it off. :surprised:

Meguires engine dressing is one of the worst things i've used. I'm using Autofinesse dressle now which gives much better results imo

I find that moat of Auto Finesse are a let down. I have tired almost every product they do and some are good but for me the biggest disappointed was the wax. Over priced and does not last long as all. Mainly there "Desire" wax.
