Title: Eternalife Mk5 Golf Gti DSG Blue
Post by: eternalife on August 29, 2014, 09:22:19 pm
Hi,
I own a 2005 Golf Mk5 DSG, in blue. Pretty much standard.
Since I bought the car, has been ultra reliable - never let me down, German Engineering  :happy2:
Being 32 the insurance costs are relatively amicable, and being a bit of a detailing lover, the car certainly gets treated well  :ashamed:

20/08/2011 Purchased Date

Prior to my ownership the car has been pretty much serviced by VW
In my Ownership I have had the following carried out - I know a fair few people 'in the trade' a VW/BMW specialist and also a Supercar Garage, so tend to get work carried out there, with me being a helping hand...

15/10/2011 Oil filter
15/10/2011 Oil (Longlife)
15/10/2011 Fuel Filter
15/10/2011 Air Filter
15/10/2011 Wiper Blades
All OEM parts bought TPS

10/02/2012 Rear Discs
10/02/2012 Rear Pads
All OEM Parts from TPS

17/03/2013 Cambelt, Water pump, coolant - AMD Essex
17/03/2013 Brake Fluid Dot 4 - AMD Essex

01/06/2013 Bosch S4 Battery (Euro Car Parts P/N 444/0277)

04/06/2013 2 x Front Tyres Uni Royal Rainsport 2

06/06/2013 Oil Filter OEM (TPS P/N 06D115562)
06/06/2013 Oil Quantum Longlife (TPS P/N ZGB115QLB00501)
06/06/2013 OEM Screen Wash (TPS P/N SG052164M2)

Thanks  :drinking:
I haven't seen another GTi in the same colour as mine, I was told that the original owner had paid for a non-standard colour - but I am unsure if this is true.
Were heated seats an option or standard?
Also does anyone know what the exact blue colour of my car is called?

Decent looking car you have there, looks well cared for.
I believe the colour is 'Laser Blue' and is certainly not common.

Laser blue - good to know :) It is relatively tidy, but still can do with improvement (refurb on the alloys is one of the items on the list!)
I would love to go onto 18's (looks stunning), but the cost expense, compromise on ride quality and I do believe they handle better on 17's puts me off...slightly

Very nice :happy2:

Thanks   :happy2:

Few quick updates:

01/09/14 - Rear Tyres changed Bridgestone RE050A 225/45/17
02/09/14 - Alignment done, Hunter machine - if anyone is nearby and is looking for a good place to get their alignment sorted, can certainly recommend the following: F1 Tyres, 168 High Road, Chadwell Heath, Romford, Essex, RM6 6LU
Email: info@f1tyres.co.uk Phone: 020 8599 9985
Their typical pricing is £30 for front alignment, and £50 for 4 wheel - bargain for alignment on a Hunter!

02/09/14 - Cruise Control Stalk replaced (original had broke wires) Ended up buying the following item: MEYLE Indicator Stalk Switch Cruise Control 1K0953513G
Purchased from: Murray's DIRECT, 9 Harpsfield Broadway, HATFIELD, Hertfordshire, AL10 9TF
Phone: 01707 272686 Email: mail@murraysdirect.co.uk
Collected it myself in Person £28.80 inc VAT

So, the car (as of last night) has hit the 100,000 miles mark and is still going strong  :happy2:
Haven't really been on the forum for a while and thought I should at least do a mini-update..

Jan 2015: Oil Filter Housing replaced, as well as oil filter and some long life oil. Pollen filter also changed. All original VW, TPS supplied)
May 2016: Front Tyres (Bridgestone RE050)
August 2016: Oil filter, oil, pollen filter (Original VW parts, TPS supplied)
August 2016: Rear Tyres (Pirelli P Zero Nero)

Aside from the above, I am sure there has been more done, but cannot recall it all at the moment

I now also own a Lotus Evora  so tend to use one or the other depending on journey/weather etc. A few pics...
