Well its just ticked over 97,000 miles.
Sounds really rough at idle, not sure why and when you put the clutch down if you lift the clutch quick it makes this clicking/flicking sound from the engine area, drives fine, clutch works fine. Release bearing or dual mass? Ive just seen the clutch/flywheel kits for these are £500 upwards !
Then theres the turbo, it whined when i got it, but now its even worse to the point where people turn and look but only at low speed it whines, or when pulling away/building up speed.
Its still got a water leak, sometimes it will go 3 weeks without any loss, then it will empty the bottle in 24 hours, then itl slowly drop over a week, then its fine again for another week. Its got the revised C head on it so its not that.
Lastly, a dumpvalve sound, when you give it a strong boot and then change gear theres a load psshhhh sound with a faint wooo/coooo squeak at the end of it.
They dont build them like they used to, my MK4 TDi was more solid, handled better etc. id still have that now if it wernt for the headgasket issue!

You'll be in the market for a DMF and a turbo quite soon i would guess

great lol
Also when its cold first start, it starts fine, but chuffs out a fair bit of smoke and shakes/judders like mad for a minute then its fine? Any ideas on that one?

Glow plugs?
Easy way to tell is turn ignition on/off a few times to heat up the glow plugs, then go feel if they are all hot as the heat works its way up them.

Glow plugs won't even be coming on in this weather. They don't activate until the air temperature is down about freezing point, and you can't feel if they're hot because they're buried underneath the cam cover.
:happy2:

Dmfw and clutch, ours was doing the same at idle.
Sounds like you either have a leak some where such as rad or egr cooler, failing this could be a porous cylinder head.
Problems I have had to sort on ours (all seem common)
New Glow plug and injector wiring updated to newer version
New Dmfw and clutch
New Anti shudder valve/flap
Egr strip and clean
New rad, as was leaking at one corner
Would also recommend running both a bottle of forte diesel treatment and turbo cleaner in the tank. Cleared the over boost issue on ours due to sticking turbo vanes.
