Title: Stone Chip removal.
Post by: AndyBrown on September 02, 2014, 05:43:51 pm
After some advice, again.

Every time I wash my car it breaks my heart seeing stone chips.
I've read a few guides online and I'm thinking about giving it a go. To say I'm scared tho is an understatement!
The thought of taking sandpaper to my paintwork absolutely scare the s**t out of me.

Can anyone offer some advice/guidance and tips please.
My car is candy white.

Also can the same process be done on plastics, like the bumper?

Is it worth giving it a go or should I leave it to a pro? How much am I looking at getting it dome professionaly for let's say a dozen small chips.

Thanks

I bought the Chipex repair kit http://www.chipex.co.uk/kit/select this year, colour match is spot  :happy2: but take time and effort . Touch up kits are a glorified bodge job otherwise its a respray  :fighting:  Loads of guides on a google search how people use them  :happy2:

My car is candy white.

Get yourself any old panel bonnet etc from the breakers and practice  I did  Removes the fear factor and the results will give you large ones :happy2: :happy2:

Great work on that bonnet!
That's a good idea about getting a scrap piece, think I'll do that before I even co side going near my car.

Is the above results with a Chipex kit?

I've seen wet sanding a few times but never had the balls to try it. Now I've got a DA I think I'll try it on a spare panel and see how it goes, as said above.
