Title: Turbo back exhaust questions.
Post by: Jack_gti on September 10, 2014, 06:17:40 pm
Hi all,
Not sure if this as been asked before did try and search
Not long owned my Gti and was thinking of putting a 200 cell sports cat and cat back exhaust on but was told that the car had to be stage 2 mapped after and if I was to stage 2 it the fuel pump would be on its ass and need replacing is this true and what advantages would I get by just fitting a cat back?. Any help would be grateful

You get a bit more power fitting downpipe and sports cat, but not much fitting car back. Don't have to go stage 2 after that

So I can just put a down pipe and sports cat on and not have to go to stage 2 ??.How good does just a cat back system sound ?

You can add a TBE to a standard car, only thing you'll probably get is the Exhaust emission light coming on which will need coding out. Can be turned off with VCDS but IIRC will soon come back so will need mapping out. Usually done when a map is put on.

I think stage 2 you are ok with standard fuel pump. From about 300bhp onwards it would def need a new fuel pump.

^^^ Stage 2 is fine with a OEM fuel pump but a HPFP would of benefit to even a standard car.
