Post by: GTi-Andy on September 21, 2014, 08:27:22 am
Morning guys

Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong section, badminton please move.

I'm about to collect a 2007 5dr DSG next week and like with previous cars ive had I like to mod them.

A couple of mods on the hit list are

Remap
Change cloth interior for leather
Change head unit (looking for sat nav, Bluetooth etc)

Any recommendations/hints/tips on what I should be looking out for or links etc on how on to's etc

Cheers guys and btw, only been on the site a day and it's looks like there's a wealth of knowledge on here.

Hi there,

This thread probably does want moving so i'm sure a moderator will be along soon.

Have a search on here for the questions and you'll find a wealth of knowledge!

In short, I can give a bit of basic info though,

Remap - most people recommend Rtech http://www.r-techpower.co.uk
They're meant to be excellent for maps.

Leather interior - it can be done as far as I know but the interior will be quite pricey as there aren't that many being broken. Keep an eye on the for sale section here.

Radio - if you want to stay OEM you will be wanting an RNS-510 (sat nav) or an RCD-510 (without). You can add bluetooth I believe and the RCD can be bought with DAB.Both are really nice and look a lot better over the standard one. If you fancy it, you can swap your climate controls over for MK6 ones and they display on the radio screen which is a nice touch.

You can also fit the MDI kit in the centre cubby which is the OEM plug in for your phone - play and control music through it :D

yup, i know the feeling - ive been heavily modding cars (vauxhall) for a number of years and travelled all over for stuff.

I'm definately interested, so I'll keep you in mind.

I dont actually collect the car till next week, but i know the stuff i want doing soon and the change from the tartan seats is one of them

Jaffa, are these a straight swop over? ie no wiring to change/amend

Mine are cloth as you know but are electric and not heated.

Will there be any issues? throw up any lights on the dash

Could i retro fit the heated bit or is that more involved?

they are a straight swap over  and shouldn't be any lights on the dash

i don't know how to retro fit the heated part of it but I'm sure someone on here will

i also have the climate panel with the heated seat part if you need that as i changed mine to mk6 version
