Title: DSG gearknob change - problem
Post by: Yorkie92 on September 24, 2014, 06:24:41 pm
Hello all
Tried to change my gearknob (DSG) but it slipped into 'D' and now it is just stuck half on and I can't get the gearknob off and it will only go between 'D' and 'N'  :sad1:
Anyone know how to sort it out from here?
Thanks

Yorkie

You did better than me i tried to get mine off it wouldn't budge in the end i just swapped the trims and left the old one on there. Good luck i hope you get it sorted.

That link is the one I used which is good but I can't seem to get the pin to line up now
I'm not sure what to do now as everywhere says to not push the button in but I don't know if I have done it by accident as when I put the gearknob on the button doesn't work?

Mine went like clockwork so can't help you there but you may now need the installation tool/guard to allow the button to be put into the installation position.

All is well! I just poked a screwdriver in there to push it back and fitted straight away
Although when I posted that I hadn't pressed the button but because I though I had I tried it and to see if it was pushed in and while doing so I pushed it in!  :rolleye: haha

Pleased you sorted it  :happy2:

There's a removal video here

But after 2009 it's not exactly the same process.
