Title: iPhone 6 MDI iOS8 music issue
Post by: jbenekeorr on September 25, 2014, 01:16:41 pm
Hi all,

I am having an issue with my iPhone 6 playing music through an MDI with an RCD510 using a green collar lightning cable.

Every so often, the music cuts out, the MDI shows no device, then initialising, then it contines playing the music. It happens randomly and is very annoying!

I see a similar issue has been raised here http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,88403.0.html

Could this be the cable, the phone or iOS8?

And before anyone asks - no mine hasn't bent yet!!!

That's good thanks both.

It's got to be related to connection/charging as I can hear the phone vibrate to say it's just started charging (I.e just been plugged in) when the problem happens

Have you updated the MDI firmware? To do that you need the MDI usb cable!!

I have, although I did it in late 2013 - has there been any updated firmware since then?

As far as I remember, you put the firmware on a memory stick, and plug into an MDI usb cable

I hate Apple with a passion.
And to be honest I prefer my Pioneer headunit over my RCD510 with MDI... iPod Control just seems nicer, ability to, for example, listen to a playlist, then jump to the artist or album at the press of a button.
Although I am going to stick with the RCD510, there are other options out there if you want iPod control.

Unfortunately not. It's doing my head in!

I've done every iOS update and every Spotify update but the problem remains. Sometimes cutting out every 30 seconds, sometimes not for 30 minutes.

I updated the MDI firmware last year - with what I believe is the most recent version. I don't know if there have been any further updates?
