Title: I hate retrofits!

was the exact phrase used by a very knowledgeable and well thought of VW specialist when I asked him to make my bluetooth and rcd510 work!!!

sooooo many options, lol.

Anyways, bottom line is I have a bluetooth unit that doesn't work (its a 730D). So, can anybody give me a definitive answer to which unit I need to work with an 08 Edn 30 and the RCD510 please?

Is there a list anywhere that helps understand the myriad of serial numbers??

Phone use with an iPhone 5 is very important to me.

Will I just end up buying a different head unit?

5k0 is mine i think, works a dream with my rns.

Iv never heard of a 730D???

I've successfully tested various revisions of 7P6 035 730 (F, J, M & P) and 5K0 035 730 (B, D & E) with my RCD510

Of all the units I've tested the 5K0 rev B works best - I think the compatability does depend on the respective ages of the RCD510 and Bluetooth module. My RCD is quite early so I guess that's why the early revision works best.

The only issues I had with the later revision units was the phone book wouldn't transfer properly - but apart from that they have been fully functional.

I've got a 7p6 rev b in mine an has worked fine for over 2years
