Title: iPhone Lightning Adapter
Post by: Lyons on September 28, 2014, 10:41:39 am
Just got an iPhone 6 and began looking into how I can connect it with the AMI. I see Audi/VW now do a genuine cable, but I'm not keen to spend that amount.

I believe the 30 pin - Lightning Adapter will work, but again the genuine Apple one is pretty dear. I'm going to need 2, 1 for the wifes Tiguan too.

Does anyone have any experience of using a non genuine adapter? A couple of reports on Google said they don't work, but I'd be keen to hear first hand.

Am I right in thinking the USB media cable and original Lightning cable doesn't work either?

Do they allow control of the iPhone form the RNS though, or just charge?

Anyone know what the differences are in the MDI cable revisions too? Between 5N0035554F and H.

From what I've seen the new versions work on more applications. For the sake of £30 just buy one off me  :signLOL:

from some places they work but generally speaking best to go apple and pay the price as cheap one rescrit the charging etc which can cause problems with your iphone batt

Ended up getting a genuine Apple adapter cable for £12 in CEX. It just plugged onto the end of the iphone 4S MDI cable I had. Cheapest option.

I got the latest revision from eBay (5N0 035 554 H) and it's working nicely with my iPhone 6. £28 so expensive but could be worse. As mentioned above it's the earlier revisions that cause trouble and only work with certain models/ firmwares
