Title: Spark Plug Poll
Post by: Scottymon on September 29, 2014, 11:08:18 pm
Been running the NGK PFR7S8EG (1675) Laser Platinum for a while and have been fine, but can get the OEM Bosch for £10 cheaper, any reason why not?  Or perhaps the Iridiums offer something else...

NGK PFR7B dbl.plat's are the best I've run...so I cannot place a vote for one on your selection.

50k miles and just installed a new set 4k miles ago.

They are OE plugs for a 2010 Audi S4 3.0L supercharged motor...and they are recommended by my tuner and others to run with an aggressive tune. They never misfire and I still have the first set out in the garage. I only changed them out per my own maintenance schedule.  :happy2:

That's one of the reasons I put it on the poll tbh... after having problems when I fitted the D4YS... so yeap, whoever voted for the Nologys put something else in asap. :happy2:

Iridiums have been causing issues to those with tuned mkv's and resulted in tuners(APR, etc.) requesting tuned customers to stay away from them...here(states).

Can you elaborate? What kind of problems?  :drinking:

If not for so many of the tuned drivers reporting misfires after installing Iridium plugs...I think they would be the choice plug given their extended life performance. But with them having difficulty performing under tuned conditions...they are likely only preferred for stock platforms where extended plug life is sought after.

I wonder, and sorry to ask but are those guys running decent RON fuel consistently? 98+

They run the fuel according to their tunes and regions, yes. 93 octane = 98 RON

Tuners (APR, GIAC, Unitronic, DM, REVO, and others) send tunes that will only work with 91oct, 92oct, and 93oct...and these vary depending on where customers reside.

The tuners always work directly with those having those misfire issues and it always came down to the plugs after much trial and error.

BKR7EIX- Cylinders two and three have just started throwing up random misfires on my polar fis  :sad1:

New R8 coilpacks from the group buy, so I'm gonna rule them out

Kinda points towards the plugs?
