Hi All,
Been reading the forum for a while, bought a mk5 golf GTI 2006 plate a few months back and so far done some basic maintenance. When I was replacing the air filter I dropped one of the metal clips that hold the air inlet tube onto the engine cover and lost it. This means that the air intake pipe is only screwed on from one side, as the clip is needed to screw it on. Any idea where I can source a replacement part from and what it might be called?
You can see the screw hole and the metal clips I'm talking about in the pictures below. Thanks for the help!

Most decent motor factors, maybe even halfords will keep these on the shelf.

May seem a bit cheap but when I did the same as yourself I held it in place with a cable tie.
Did the job for 4 months before I bought a new clip and screw from VW.
I don't have the part number to hand but they're about 99c each. Just ask the parts man to pull up the image of the engine cover and you'll find the right kne

Legend! Thanks alot!
Real pain getting that engine cover off, lost a rubber gromet doing that but managed to order 4 new ones.

Looks like we have the same problem! I found both clips missing after buying my GTI recently and have bodged with a couple of nuts and bolts. Interested to hear where you got the engine cover gromits from as mine are perished?

Engine cover grommets are just rubber cone shaped objects. Part number is on them.
Bring one into vw parts department. Only a pound each I believe
I replaced all 4 as the shaking caused my oil cap to come loose

Cheers Luke. Will need to order them online, as my 5 week old son doesn't give me much time to go to the VW garage (which is other side of Bristol to me) - will check 1 remaining gromit for part number... ;-)

I ended up ordering mine from ebay (silburyskoda2010), who I'm guessing works for VW/skoda during the day. Cost me a couple of £ each. Assume you can get from a dealership but I didn't really fancy taking everything back off again to find the part number so ordered these and will fit next time I'm doing an oil change.

The part number for the rubber gromet holding the engine cover on is 036 129 689b if like me you don't want to remove to find out.

Do you know the part number for the plastic lid of the air inlet that slots into part 11 listed in the diagram above? It attaches my two plastic clips and I am looking for a replacement.
Thanks!

Look at items 5 ,7 and 9 to suit your engine code.
