Just about to order some new tyres, just wondered who has any recommendations? I usually have conti's but I fancy trying something different. What shall I try?!
Continental sport contact 5s
Michelin pilot sports
Goodyear efficient grip
Pirelli P zero
Dunlop sp sport maxx
-
PSS / AS2 / VUS in that order for both performance and price imo. :happy2:
-
I use the Goodyear asymmetric 2's and they're fantastic wet and dry, am tempted to give the super sports a try next time though
-
Supersports
-
Cheers gonna try something different
-
Conti's or the Goodyear's :happy2:
-
Pilot Super Sport? - Ferrari tyres
As sticky as a child's lollypop :notworthy: and available for less £'s than the GY Eagle F1 Assy 2's (also a good tyre - I had those previously)

Cheaper than £82? Pray tell chap...
-
If you can get 18in Eagle F1's for £82 your doing very well :congrats:
I paid £105 for PSS in 225/40/18
-
Yeah, lovetyres.com
Fancy trying the PSS at some point though.
-
Just fitted ps3's all round, well impressed with them
-
Just bought two new assy2s for the front to match the rears can't fault the tyre for performance/wear/notice etc. will give the michies are try when these are shot though
-
Pilot Sport 3 and are the only tyre id fit. Super sports are fine but get a bit slippery when it rains.

My next set will be BF Goodrich's new G-Force Rivals...They are rated higher than Michelin PilotSuperSports overall and cost a few bucks less. I was going to mount Michelin's PSS's before I saw the G-Force Rivals. :happy2:

G-Force Rivals Test results: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=172
Michelin PSS Test results: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=174
If needing more wet traction than dry...I'd pick PSS, but I seek better dry traction.

That's an interesting read. The wet traction ability of the PSS is very useful in the uk :signLOL:

big shout for Pirelli P Zero's here. EVO mag have just done their annual tyre test using a Mk7 GTi PP and the P Zero came second I believe behind a continental
-
Goodyear eagle f1 assy2s here as well, can't fault them at all.
-
I run Michelin Pilot Super Sports over the Spring , Summer & Autumn months and then swap to Winter wheels & tyres when the weather breaks .
Works for me :happy2:

Yep, good call. I'd only go for supersports if you also have some cold weather tyres for the winter months.
I've had several sets of Goodyear eagle f1 assy2s - rate them very highly. I currently have Dunlop Sport Maxx RT based on a recommendation. Lesson learned - they're ok, but i don't rate them as highly as the Goodyears, and they don't have the sidewall rim protector so SWMBO has wiped my wheel against a kerb .. Grrrr!
FWIW the EVO test (last month?) put Conti5's in the top spot, although to be honest i doubt theres much between the michelin, goodyear, pirellis and contis - all very good tyres.
-
I was thinking of getting a set of Conti5s for my future wheels but I'm not sure if they would last as long as the Goodyears Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, that I currently have. In my Golf the Goodyears last near 35.000 miles.
-
I'd say the Eagle F1's will last longer than the Conti's but for all round performance you can't fault the Conti's, I will be buying a set again for the Mk5 I've recently bought. My father also runs the Conti's on his A4 Avant S-line
-
Thanks for your feedback. Will think about it as I can get the Goodyears a bit cheaper than the Contis.
-
Another shout for pilot sport 3's.
Best I've used by a long way
-
I currently have the conti 5's but I'll be changing back to Toyo T1R's, best tyres I've had.

I find the supersports very good on the road and they can put up with some mild track abuse.
I use Uniroyal rainsports on the GTI which are great on damp/greasy roads.
-
I've just put some more conti's on my gti and I was driving my gf's fiesta st with toyo proxes t1rs on and I feel more confident with the continentals although I think the st handles a little bit better.
