Title: Coils to springs
Post by: Melvin084 on October 05, 2014, 03:00:14 pm
I have recently started to drive my car a lot more and I began noticing how uncomfortable the ride is with these budget coils (jom coils) that I have, I would like to change to some lowering springs with the hope of finding almost the same ride comfort as stock.

Reccomondations on what to get?
(Not looking to spend too much)

Eibach or H&R. Both a little firmer than stock but not uncomfortable.

I don't think lowering springs are your best bet for comfort, I assume you'll be putting them onto 60k + old OEM dampers? The dampers won't be as good as they were from factory and then if you put lowering springs on it will work them harder and worsen the ride.

I had JOMS on my old fabia (all the way down and helper springs out) and the ride was pretty uncomfortable, handled like a go cart though  :driver: . If you really want some comfort and want to be lower you really need to spend a few ££'s on some different coilovers unfortunately. I love my KW's they give a superb ride and handle very well, I've heard good stuff about AP's on here and Weitecs are basically KW's without the rust proof spray.

I have never run lowering springs so I might be wrong and they can't be much worse than the JOMS  :jumping:. But if you want a real balance between comfort and lows decent coils are the way IMO. Hope this helps  :happy2:

I had both Eibach sportlines and H&R supersport springs. Eibach was more comfortable but the H&R had better stance because a bit lower up front. H&R supersports are not available in the UK though...I believe. I have Bilstein B8 dampers and they are suited for sport but I have heard Koni FSD give a superb ride coupled with Eibach sportlines.
