Hi,
I've just got myself a ed30. It has the boggo RCD300 and Ipod connector kit, looks official Audi. Problem is that I get no music unless I'm putting pressure on the Ipod. I guess the connector itself is shafted.
Any one know where (and if) I can get a replacement ? Part number ?
Thanks!

Do you have a plastic sleeve to stabilise the ipod when in the dock?
-
Yes, but it is very wide. Needs downwards pressure to make good contact. Flaps about in the slot. Is there another bit (that I'm missing) which holds the device centred ?
-
Sorry for butting in but when there is a thread here i thought I'd use it rather than create a new one. :innocent:
I have a similar setup in my GTI and it wont work with my iPhone 4S or iPod 2nd gen. I press the CD button twice but nothing happens on the radio. It charges the phone and iPod so the cable is wired up.
Anybody able to shed some light? Is it software related or is there something else I'm missing :scared:

I'm ordering an Ipod extension cable to see if that helps, as it should give a better connection, especially if I wedge it down with something or araldite th e thing in!

My Ed30 came with a bag of plastic adapters that are suited for all the diff size ipods/phones so they are held firmly over the connection

Thanks Phil. So I need to get hold of the adaptors ... dealer I suppose or ebay

Those docks suffer badly with dry joints. That's why loads of people upgrade to media kits
-
I had the same problem, so removed the connector from the armrest, and attached an extension cable, so I could leave my phone in the cup holder. Worked a treat.
-
Received my extension lead today. It didn't work - no charging, no music. Plugging the pod directly into the arm rest dock charged the pod ok and intermittent music. Tested the lead with the charger, worked ok. Bizzare. The lead/plugs may be missing some pins or connections.
How can I remove the dock from the armrest ? Must be a how to somewhere. Where does the other end terminate ? I'll see if I can replace it.

Contacted the seller. Looks like I ordered the wrong one - should've got one that is marketed as with A/V, the one I got was power only.
So I've ordered this now: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230600138549

Well I received the ipod extension cable - same problem. Works ok with pressure on the plug.
Is there a "HOW TO" retrofitting /removing these things or taking the armrest apart?
Hopefully I can do something with the socket end, worst case would be to put a new cable in.
Can I connect a MDI to the RCD300 to get the track listings etc or will I be better off getting one of those ebay double DIN units that do all this?

Damo - Good timing!
I'd like to sort it out - photos / description will help me avoid destroying the interior !
I'll test drive your instructions if you like.
Shame about not working with the MDI. I was looking at the RNS500, but the cost puts me off. Considering the top end android based double din units, once my finances recover and I've sorted out the more important tasks, like replacing the Landsail ditchfinders.
Cheers
