Title: Replacing standard steering wheel with a MK5 MFSW
Post by: Rob1 on October 09, 2014, 07:21:11 pm
Hi all I'm considering swapping steering wheels for a mfsw other than adding the mfsw air bag lead would I need to replace anything else such as the control module.

Thanks Rob1

You'd need a controller that supports MFSW. I used to have a list somewhere with the part numbers and what they supported.

I'm looking at doing the same thing to my GT soon and I'm going to need the MFSW controller, slip ring and air bag loom for mine to get everything working correctly. Once thing I didn't realise was while the air bag from the standard wheel will fit the MFSW the colour is different (my standard wheel is a REALLY dark grey), so unless that isn't an issue for you it may be worth getting a MFSW with the air bag so they match properly.
