Title: Cat back vs standard??
Post by: gazzab91 on October 09, 2014, 07:53:24 pm
Is there much of a difference between the standard cat back system and that of a milteck system etc?

I know theyre both the same diameter so was wondering if there is any form of restriction or back pressure that could hold the car back.

Plus that the fact Eddies run same intercooler and exhaust as mk 5 gti and they map comfortably to 300 stage 1 I'm wondering whether or not to stick with my stock as its in really good condition only recently bought a new oem recently

Cheers

Most cat backs would be a 3 inch rather than a 2.5 which is stock I believe

ah okay if i picked up a new catback system would it eliminate the section of my decat downpipe where it goes from 3" to 2.5" or would there be a little bit of butchering to get it all to fit properly?

Depends on your decat or not...some come with the center section...some don't..

You wont gain any power from fitting just a cat back so if aren't after noise I'd stick with the std.
