Title: Car stereo??
Post by: Juswoo98 on October 10, 2014, 08:59:15 am
I currently have the standard RCD 300 stereo in my ED30. I want to replace this with a new one that will support bluetooth streaming of music. Does anyone know if any of the OEM VW stereos have this feature or will I have to buy an aftermarket one? If this is the case, does anyone have any recommendations to what to go for. I'd like this to go with the car and fit properly.

You can buy a 3rd generation stereo (RCD-310, RNS-310, RCD-510 or RNS-510) and get the latest compatible version with your car (red dot matrix MFA).

Shows titles in the cluster and is controlled by the MFSW: http://www.carsystems.pl/fis-link-can-box-converter-for-red-dot-matrix-fis-and-new-bt-modules,id688.html

If you go for a radio with touch screen (RCD/RNS-510) you can get this newer version but it won't show anything on your cluster: http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730p-retrofit-newest-version,id886.html

Hope I'm not saying anything wrong. There are guys here that know better this stuff.

You need a Bluetooth kit, most importantly. None of the VW head units have Bluetooth built in as it's added to the car, not to the head unit.

RNS 315 is an exception to this rule as it can have built in bluetooth, but won't support the Highline display on a Mk5 so it depends what level of integration you're after
