Hi everybody,
I recently went to see a 2004 MK5 GTI replica and it was beautiful,
Now I don't own a MK5 yet but I will purchase one as close to the couler I want or with the alloys I want,
My plan is to fit these
GTI body kit,
Side skirts,
Centre ex conversion
Lowered springs
Wheel spacers
Monza alloys
Now what does everybody think of these items fitted to MK5?
Do you think it will look close to a GTI???
Also I want to know If anybody has purchased from this German company who are selling bod kit,
Its not OEM but here's link.

If you get an oem front bumper you can trim down some parts and make it fit. It will look better than the replica gti bumpers.
-
Thanks, but what about rear and sides?
Do you not think ABS plastic is worth buying from this company?
-
Side skirts from VW are about £80 for 2.
People have been happy with rears from pgcb or something, maybe take a look there
-
You can get a GTI rear valance for around £50 quid second hand. Fits straight onto the standard rear bumper. or if you want an R32 style rear valance then as Joe has mentioned, go for the one from ppcgb.

You mean GTI skirts? will they fit straight onto a MK5 then?
wiull it matter if 2door or 4door?

You will just need the bottom valance off the rear bumper.

Ok thankyou for the link,
so your saying i dopnt need a hole new bumper just the valance added to complete it, but the front and sides i will still need new?
also do you know the quality of the bumper on that site?
thanks
-
If my stock rear number is that crappy black plastic I will need I new read bumper won't I to paint to match car
-
Actually I will need the whole rear number then thinking about my last post, so back to my first post,
Has anybody any idea on quality of company and body kit I linked? Thanks
-
bump please
-
the gti rear lower section is £50 isn new from VW
-
Whatever you buy will need working to ensure it fits properly. Get an OEM front bumper with aftermarket grilles all bought seperately. Then for the rear, get it from PPCGB
Job done!
-
OK sorry for questions,
So if I buy an OEM gti bumper I don't need a conversion bumper as an original gti number will fit any mk5?
Is that right?
And I can buy the rest like side skirts and rear bumper off ppcgb.
-
The OEM GTI front bumper will fit but you'll have to cut some foam. There are many DIY online.
For the rear you only need the valance, since the bumper is the same in all mk5. There are 2 versions, one with holes for rear parking sensors and another without holes. For the normal GTI I'd get one from VW. For an Ed. 30 rear valance or R-line style, I'd get it from PPCGB or ebay as long as they're in ABS plastic.
Cheers
-
ok so let me get this right,
an original GTI bumper will fit any mk5 with abit if cutting, so thats that sorted,
the rear i only need a valance but if my rear bumper is matt black plastic instead of same colour as car i will need a full rear bumper?
and quality wise im good aslong as its ABS plastic? if this is correct my link to bodykit conversion is ABS and good enough quality? is that right? and works out cheaper as comes with lights, grills and primed
-
You only need the rear spoiler that comes in matte black plastic. You can send it to an auto body shop to get it colour coded. Your bumper is the half upper part and it's colour coded already.
Quality wise you should only buy from shops with good feedback. Look for other projects that already did what you're after or look at the feedback the sellers have in ebay. Choose only sellers with >99% feedback. Front bumper replica kits might be cheaper than getting parts from different places.
OEM is still the best you can buy. Choose accordingly to your capabilities.
-
OK sorry I think I'm confused, the top half of rear bumper is my bumper that's already coloured,
The lower half is the valance thatt comes crappy black,
So this is all I need yes? Like this?

-
Yes. That's the R32 rear valance. You can get similar ones with left exhaust cut or with no exhaust cut.
-
ok i was mistaken thinking the valance was the lower center.bit if that part in pic,
can you take alook at my 2nd post link please and tell me what you think of that,
added to that i will purchase center exaust conversion

I dont think anyone has bought the second link so no idea about it.
I would save up for all OEM if it was me
-
I do agree but it is ABS like people have been recommending and there feedback is excellent for how many sales thyve had
-
You have to realize that replicas will most likely never fit as well as OEM parts. You get cheaper parts but don't expect to be 100% satisfied with fitting them.
-
ok thankyou,
so people are suggesting i get oem gti front bumper, then aftermarket rear and sideskirts?
am i right?
-
Yes and no. If you want a GTI rear spoiler you can buy an OEM part as well. It's cheap. Then you can get it colour coded if you like. The same for the sideskirts.
If you want one rear spoiler similar to an Ed. 30 or a R32 you can consider getting replicas, as the OEM parts are much more expensive.
-
ok so sideskirts and rear spoiler. sorted, ive only got front and rear bumper to figure out,
so front bumper i also want oem and aftermarket grills and fog lights?
and rear valance, oem? or ppcpf (or what ever that sites called)

The GTI rear spoiler comes in one piece, not like the R32 rear spoiler that has 2 parts. So you just need the rear spoiler.
If you get an OEM front bumper you'll be more satisfied with the outcome.
-
it will be the gti spoiler i think i havnt looked at r32 spoiler so not sure if looks better than gti.
where can i purchase aftermarket front grills abd fog lights to fit oem.front bumper?

The best price you can get are from chinese sellers. They have cheap OEM material. You can check www.aliexpress.com (http://www.aliexpress.com) and www.bold-sport.com (http://www.bold-sport.com). They sell in ebay as well.
-
ok thanks, do you think my rear valance is needed as oem or will i be ok with aftermarket abs plastic?
also when buying sideskirts is it the same skirt for both 2+4door mk5s?

OEM part for a GTI rear spoiler is cheap enough, like the side skirts. Then get them colour coded.
The side skirts come in 2 sizes, so get the ones for your Golf.
-
i mean rear bumper valance not rear spoiler

I thought we already covered that. For the rear you only need rear spoiler to get a full GTI bumper.
You can add the rear aileron. That's the little wing you see above the rear window. I got an OEM, but it isn't cheap since it comes primed.
-
yes but your confusing me by calling the bottom bumper valance a spoiler
eg. for the rear you will only need the rear spoiler to get the gti bumper look

It's what they're also called.
Check this ebay ad: Genuine VW Golf Mk5 GTI Twin Pipe Rear Bumper Spoiler (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351007067240)
That's what you need to get, either from ebay, part shop or from local VW dealer.
-
You also have the roof spoiler that I called aileron. Just forget that since you don't use that word. :signLOL:
-
right ok i thought the link that was called the rear valance? lol

Anybody else have any info on this or a replica of there own?
-
The 2.0 GT is a good base for a replica - it's 150 brake and has a few sports upgrades - I just bought an 06 in black for £2k. I was going to go the replica route but decided against it - I'm just going to lower it. It's nippy enough for me at the moment and gives some drivers a bit of a surprise when I leave them standing. Probably gonna de-badge the back too. Going for the undercover look. I'll post some photos when she is done. Good luck finding a car dude.
