My mk5 is almost due for it's 60k service and I phoned a few local dealers, the first one quoted £299 which is what I expected, while the second one quoted £235  I asked him to confirm that was the price since the car is an R32 (i.e. above the 2 litre mark, usually more expensive) and he said yes.
I booked it in for two weeks' time... Can they come back and charge me the extra when I pick the car up if and when they realise they've made a mistake?
:popcornsoda:

I'd get it on an email or such like, to have some proof if its queried.

When you drop it in they will confirm the price and ask if you would like anything else looked at whilst it is in, if they confirm the price you were quoted then they will have to honour that
-
Get it in writing mate - will be hard for them to back out and keep your custom for the future then :happy2:

was too good to be true... I phoned back to change the date, and they asked me to confirm that it was the major service I wanted, to which they re-quoted £382 (discounted from £424) for a major service on the R32 :scared:
I asked why it was almost £100 more than the >2 litre engine major service, and they said the spark plugs cost £16 each on my particular model and requires more oil.
If anyone else on here has an R32, I'd be interested to know what you've paid for a major service!

Just find a decent indy mate.

See there's a lot to be said for doing it yourself.

it's just finding a decent indy that's close to my home/work that'll either come collect the car or give me a loan car. They seem to be very hard to come by
