Title: PCV and Cam follower replacement
Post by: PT82 on October 14, 2014, 07:43:30 pm
Hey guys, since owning the Golf I have started replacing certain items that will keep it healthy and reliable. Next on the to do list is the PCV valve and cam follower.

Do I need to buy the whole kits like the links below or will just buying the valve and cam follower be ok?

Full kits are best, no point saving a few pennies over the risk of another part failing! Also, test your PCV first before buying as you may not need one. To test, take the dipstick out quickly while the engine is at idle. If it tries to stall and catches itself, your PCV is fine and doesn't need replacing.

Cam follower is worth doing for peace of mind regardless really. I only did the follower but I wish I had replaced the bolts and seal using that kit you linked!
