Title: Center cap size 17'' alloys?
Post by: mra12345 on October 16, 2014, 04:45:16 pm
Hi,

I'm booked in to get my wheels refurbed next week and need to order new center caps for them.  Anyone able to confirm the size for me for standard 17'' alloys (Golf GTI mk5 2006 plate).  I think they are 65mm but find it hard to confirm for sure and don't want to order the wrong size.

Thanks!

If you got it wrong they're about £5 on eBay for some good ones! Mine are over a year old and are in perfect condition still

Yeah just wanted to get them changed while the alloys are off as heard it was a pain once the wheels are back on.  Looking forward to the refurb and retro cruise fit in the next few days.

Not the case at all, small flat head screwdriver and they pop out.

I literally just took mine off to torque the driveshaft!

Yeah?  Someone else was talking about having to drill them out then lift out with a hook.  Sounds easier then.

Maybe after years of road grease they stick but they only clip in!

Put a cloth behind the screwdriver to prevent scratching the alloy too
