Title: Advice needed.
Post by: AndrewWillis on October 18, 2014, 01:40:37 pm
Hello, my Dad has an 07 1.6 Golf and has the boring RCD300 with the armrest ipod dock, is there anyway of swapping the ipod dock out for a MDI that fits and adding a RNS315 or RCD510?

RNS510 is easy enough to add, as is an MDI. Not particularly cheap mind you as it'll cost you up to £500 or so for the parts. RNS315 isn't fully functional with the Mk5 Golf as it's designed for the newer range and communicates in a different way with the dash display and steering wheel controls (if fitted).

Will I need to change the loom in the armrest or will the MDI loom be the same as the iPod loom?

New loom needed. Or you could fit a glove box version MDI kit?
