Title: Window screen polish?
Post by: Jayy26 on October 18, 2014, 07:51:12 pm: my screen looks really pitted and when the sun hits it , it really blinds you ,

is they any way a normal polish will get rid off this?

ive heard good things about the gtech stuff?

Glass is extremely hard to polish and normal glass polishes are for removing very light marks and bug splatter. If your screen is badly chipped/ marked or other more major defects you'll need a new one.

Post by: chris1440 on October 19, 2014, 09:55:58 am: My screen (2005 plate with 103k) was badly scratched over time by the wipers being on when the screen was dry im guessing. The autowipers go bonkers sometimes. It was like the glass had a matt rough finish in places and the sun and lights in the dark used to spread all over the screen something terrible. Had a new screen fitted in the end.

Post by: Apollo on October 19, 2014, 10:45:08 am: I had the same problem on my GT, 10 years of driving means that lots of tiny marks build up and make the screen pretty awful when liking into the sun. Thankfully a chip at the bottom of mine spread into a crack and I had the whole screen replaced by the insurance company for my £75 excess. With winter approaching and the low sun I would look at getting it replaced.

G4 is the polish and it won't do anything, its for removing bug splatter and just cleaning the glass ready for applying the sealant. If you want to try and polish it then you'll want CarPro Ceri Glass. But to get much out you'll need a glass polishing disc and a machine to do it, glass is way to hard to get anything other than very very light marks out by hand.
