Title: Airbag wiring harness - 5K0 in a 1K car? Dangerous?
Post by: mrvertigo73 on October 18, 2014, 10:20:12 pm
Hi all,

I have a mk5 MFSW with flappy paddles ready to fit to my 2005 1K DSG GTI which currently has no flappy paddles and no MFSW. I ordered a 1K0 971 584 C airbag loom / harness - unfortunately I got 1K0 971 584 delivered - it is missing the cable with the black plug terminal so I think this will mean my MFSW doesn't work? Correct me if I'm wrong!

However, I also happen to have a 5K0 971 584 C, with the black terminal cable and my question is simply: Can I use this harness safely, or will the airbag blow up in my face?!  :scared:

Also, will it talk to the rest of the car nicely, like a good little airbag harness? (sorry been with the kid all day!!)  :signLOL:

the setup will be: MFSW wheel with paddles and Star button, Control Module 1KO 953 549 G (currently 1K0 953 549 F)

Thanks for any ideas. I really want to get this sorted as I am waiting to get a new head unit and reversing camera in, so want to make sure the MFSW is working before I tackle that.  :rolleye:

I currently have no VCDS, but have ordered a Ross-Tech official VCDS VAGCOM HEX CAN USB cable.

don't fit the 5K0 as it won't work, wired differently to the 1k0 version

if you need a 1K0 mfsw loom, I have one for £20 delivered
