Title: Rear wiper
Post by: Mrstridey on October 21, 2014, 11:32:06 am
Hi all,

Sometimes my rear wiper turns itself on when I start the car...?
Thought I knocked it the first time it did it, but I'm sure it's doing it's own thing now. If I cycle it on and off again it stops?

Anyone else got this issue?? Not a major problem, just don't want it to do it in the ice and snap the wiper!!

I think this is down to either a bad stalk / sensor or the wiper motor is giving up.  For me it was the wiper motor; handy time to change the rear badge if you fancy a reversing camera etc.

You don't park up and leave it in reverse do you?

Do you have automatic wipers and lights?

Leaving them on can sometimes cause a single wipe after starting the car.

Also putting in reverse with the above will trigger an automatic wipe.

Mine does it also.  Sometimes gives the single wipe and sometimes keeps going until I cycle it on and off again.  Have tried different things with the wiper stalk when parking it and it still does it.  Musg be the motor from what I've read.   Does anyone know if jts an easy job to change?
Ps I think my gti has every common fault and gremlin going but I still love it!
