I'm the 3rd or 4th owner of mine, can't remember off the top of my head. 11 owners is what I would expect from an old V12 Merc or something

Mines had 5 in total with me being the 5th.. I thought that was a lot!

To be honest, i wouldn't worry about it too much as i did with mine when i got it and really its been great and sure enough i've had to spend some money on it but only maintenance really such as brakes.

To give you real piece of mind, even if your car has just been serviced, i'd maybe service it yourself thoroughly as its not hard even if you've never touched an engine before as there is guides on here, youtube etc.

Look at changing coil packs to R8 ones to upgrade them whilst your on getting messy under the bonnet as a little added extra whilst messing on under there, good quality spark plugs, have a look round the FMIC and check the hoses over to make sure theres no leaks etc, check the diverter valve and PCV valve too and change if needed, i'd recommend changing them though for piece of mind again and there not expensive parts to replace. Theres plenty of threads / guides on here to check things and replace them if need be too so have a look if you haven't already :happy2:

Then you can drive your car knowing its all fresh under the bonnet and up to scratch  :driver: :jumpmove:

That many owners in that many years would make me think the car has issues. That's just my personal view though...

I was the third owner of mine, so that does sound like quite a high number! Mk5 GTIs are good cars and people tend to hold onto them

I wouldn't worry too much. Every time you put a private plate on a car it shows as a new owner on the v5. Maybe some of the previous owners did this. Also, vw could have pre-registered it so that would count as 1 owner too.

Mines a 2005. V5 shows 5 owners but I know it's only really had 2 owners ( pre- registered by vw and 2 private plates)

You sure about that? I think you are mistaken there.

What's the mileage on it?

11 owners you'd think would signify a huge amount of mileage.

I remember buying an A4 off a friend years ago. Didn't take much notice of it as it was cheap. Anyway, ended up doing some digging and found it had quite a few previous owners but had only done 86k.

Started looking on VOSA MOT site.. christ, add another 200,000miles to to it  :congrats:

Surprising how well the interior was, leather was really good condition, little wear on the steering wheel.. crazy.

A change of plate (private plate) doesn't count as a previous owner ( I don't think )

I am the 4th owner of J400UKs GTI

Also private plate does not add a new owner to the V5.

I bought Mine a few weeks ago. It has 75k 05plate gti dsg with full vw history. I've got the previous owner's receipt when he purchased it in 09 from vw used. Also he spent about £3k a few months before he part-ex it on a new mechatronics, cam belt, x4 Pirelli tyres. Was a bit concerned with having 4 previous owners but it has documented service history and all major repairs have been done.

Previous owners never bother me.

The cars done 98k runs like a dream
Hpi clear!! Before it comes out aha!
All previous mots in paperwork checkd vs online all fine and got my garage to check ecu for errors nothing even mieage aparts garages can tell on vags
Reciepts add up to to ovee 3k just for mechanicals!! One bill was 1300!!

So shows it been looked after on that.

I'm the fifth owner of my 2008 ed30 on 72k miles and it honestly really bothers me haha! Very high imo..

Although, it has FVWSH and a lot of history so I don't know why I care...

I also work for Ford Admin and private plates do not add owners onto a car - The only information that is changed when we send retentions away is the keepers address so that we receive the V5 back rather than the customer :)
