Title: Upgrading VW sound pack
Post by: Garth on November 12, 2009, 12:15:39 pm
When hoovering out the car this weekend, I have discovered an amp under the passenger seat (that's ANOTHER factory option I have found out is on the car!).
Checking my option codes in the handbook confirms that the car has the Sound pack option.

So, are there any direct upgrades to this setup? Is it simply a cheap amp with high level inputs that can be replaced or is it more complex?
I also want to replace the RCD500 head unit I have since it cannot play mp3 CD's  so is it still a straight swap to a new head unit and will the amp still work??

As long as you stay OEM, pretty much a straight swap.

As for Soundpack, think you have the highest spec (10 speakers plus amp). Next step is aftermarket.

Top of the class...your correct. :happy2:

I have this in mine the speakers do tend to loose some "quality" on higher volumes...

If wanting to install the amp, is any wiring needed??  :drinking:
