Title: which tyres for 19" wheels?
Post by: sherwood989 on October 30, 2014, 11:26:13 pm
Hi everyone, Just bought some 19" rotiform DIA's for my mk5 GT and after a test fitting the space between the rim and the arch is very thin. What tyres would people recommend for a fair bit of stretch with good results. the car is currently at stock height. width of the wheel is 8.5"

Any help would be great.

215 would give a nice stretch but not too much, 225 gives a little bit but hardly noticeable, only thing is there's not many decent 215/35/19 tyres they're mostly nankangs ect.

Thanks dan, I'll do a bit of research tomorrow and see what I can get for them. The 215 sounds good, I don't want a stupid amount of stretch. Thanks for the help.

Also, just to complicate things a little I found depending on the brand, the rim protector differs.
I have contis on the back, the rim protector is quite noticeable and hides the stretch quite well, however on the front, Uniroyal rain sports, even with the rim protector, the stretch is noticeable, the wheel a little more exposed.

I'm running 225 35 tyres on my 8.5 width wheels.
