Hi
Iv recently had my car stage2 mapped and the clutch is starting to slip under boost,
There seems to be a few clutch kits out there but I'm after something that is still light on the pedal and feels pretty Oem, 330bhp 325ftlb
Thanks

Helix!
I'm having one fitted on Wednesday after all the great reviews on here :happy2:
-
Helix organic and a new OEM DMF for me when I go stage 2+ early next year, heard it's very good for feel and handling the power and its pretty well priced.
-
Helix
Only clutch you will need with k04
-
Witch helix and what kind of power figures would they be good too ?

Thats fine if you have a sachs flywheel. If you have a luk then youre out of luck.

It's torque that kills clutches, not power.
The Helix organic (same as one in the last group buy, and on Awesome GTI's website) has proven it's self to 420lb/ft without slipping :happy2:
MC71 has one, he's running 360bhp and loads of torque.

Sachs, like Helix, do a kit to fit either the LUK or Sachs flywheel.
-
Stupid question, but how do you know which fly wheel you have? Is it a case of taking out the clutch and having a look at it or can chassis numbers be used to identify it?
-
Sure I read that all GTIs have an LUK flywheel as standard??
If you are replacing the clutch, you may as well do the Flywheel while your at it - then you know for sure what flywheel you have :happy2:
-
Fair enough. It's just that I've been running a 35% increase in torque for over a year now and fear I may be speeding up the eventual clutch failure so if I can get ahead of the game and keep an eye out for cheap parts when they pop up then I may not end up at the side of the road in tears. With no money. Or clutch.

What is this organic clutch about?
the only person I see selling Organic Helix clutch is Alex. everyone else seems to just sell Helix clutch :ashamed:

Of course I have the Sachs flywheel.
I didn't mention it because we are talking about clutches...
I also don't think that Luk is that bad...

OP,
As the peeps say, get the Organic Helix clutch and IMHO Id add a minty fresh OEM LUK DMF fitted at the same time. Alex can supply (and fit) the lot.
My Stage 2+ Eddy is more than happy with the Road Organic version one on board. When fitted Niki had the torque up to 420ft Lb with no slip.........wouldn't run that all the time though!
Pedal feel was around 50% stiffer than the OEM when first fitted but soon settled down a bit, it inspires so much confidence when pressing on. Great clutch.
With the manual stick shift Id also HIGHLY recommend to anyone a short (quick) shifter, 42 Draft Designs bushes and the AKS bracket bushes. With your new clutch and a nice solid gearstick your car, and your driving experience of it, will be transformed. Above parts are all listed in the Mods catalouge.
Anyone know?
From Helix's site.....
A sprung hub centre drive plate with heavy duty metal backed organic linings to give a more progressive engagement of the clutch.
Only available as a single plate clutch and must be used with the 69-110 series of clutch cover assemblies.

The one I have (road)......

Whats the cost including fitment of the Organic Helix Clutch including a new OEM Dual Mass Flywheel going to be?
My local specialist has quoted me around £1200 for just a standard replacement clutch and DMF!
-
^^^^ Speak to Alex at AKSTuning, around £1100 but probably cheaper if there's a group buy.
-
Awesome GTI have the Helix clutch for £469, oem flywheel is £195 from eurocarparts iirc. I don't know if this includes certain bolts you need etc. What is different to this and what the £750 group buy option was?

The GB included all the flywheel bolts, cover bolts and slave cylinder.
Euros have dropped their price on the dmf since the group buy took place.
