Good evening all,
My car seems to have developed a front nearside knock. Ive had the wheel off and had a good look today, the wishbone bushes look fine and the ARB bush is fine. It makes the noise when on an uneven road surface or going over potholes/drains which leads me to think it could be the top mount?
Any help on this would be great!
Cheers

ive just had this issue on my 2006 gti, changed the top mounts, arb links and bottom ball joints, and it was still there, turned out to be the dampers....

Bad times mate! nothing worse then process of elimination and its the last part that you replace that is the problem! I replaced the top mounts and the noise seems to have gone now. My car is polybushed all round so its is generally very noisy anyway, especially with the state of nothern roads!
Thanks for your reply mate :)

Possibilities
Top mounts
ARBs
Front wishbone - rear consol bushes
Ball joints
Drop links
Track rod ends
And of course the dreaded, costly steering rack knock!

Update!
Replaced the nearside top mounts and the knock has gone!
There are still odd knocks when going over rough ground but with the car being poly bushed I would say this is normal.
Hope this helps anyone having similar troubles!
Cheers
