Title: oem or kenwood that is the question, choosing speakers aanndd a bit of insulatio
Post by: TForrest94 on November 06, 2014, 07:15:36 pm
Alright guys and girls

As its the winter and i wont be spending much time working on the outside of the car i thought id take the months to sort some audio and a few interior touches

I currently have a kenwood dnx521dab which will be coming over to my new car, i dont know if to keep and reinstall or go more oem with an rcd 510 dab

Thought process currently is as follows:

Kenwood:
Cracking bit of kit as it stands but a bit too involving when driving to play with
dab ariel gives sh*t reception where i am so feature is pretty useless
already set up to accept amps

Rcd:
like the idea of integrating with highline
thinking of mk6 climate which also gets involved and finally reversing sensors
i doubt its as smooth as the kenwood and will need some play for external amps (correct me if im wrong)

So just after some input into opions, love the idea of oem+ but the kenwood must have been an optional upgrade for a reason right?

Also throw some good speakers at me or install guides which i can flick through

Cheers
Tommy

Have you got a windscreen DAB aerial?
Look in the Mods section for some ideas

Yea its pony in the area, my old mans got a t5 and his isnt great either

I drive a lot of different cars for work and the vw sharan doesnt lose signal at all so was gonna see where that ariel is located and possibly adapt it for mk5 use if its any different, i doubt it is but hey!

I had the best windscreen DAB aerial from dabonwheels, and it kept dropping signal.
I've now got vw polo FM/DAB aerial on roof and that works great.

I got it used off the for sale section on here  :happy2:
There are loads of aerials with the wrong connectors on. Mine was black fakra DAB, white fakra FM/AM.

I used a MK6 Tailgate DAB aerial for my DNX525DAB and it works perfectly, was a lot of effort to do it, but definitely worth it!
