Title: Interior light bulb not working
Post by: Jcarroll on November 06, 2014, 10:21:46 pm
This is my first post so firstly Hi!

I bought a 56 Plate Gt Tdi 140 and am going around fixing little niggles that bug me! Top of the list is the front interior light - the passenger side light isn't working. After a little investigation it looks like the bulb fitting has burnt out. It seems like a waste to buy a whole new unit just to fix one bulb so i was wondering if anyone has had this issue and if they have come up with a DIY fix!

Cheers :happy2:

The main interior light in the roof are known for going...the early MK5 ones was made in Italy...honest! The switch is known for arcing and burning out. I had to buy a new one when I got mine. The new one is stamped made in Germany funny enough.

Symptoms -
* Footwell lights STILL work.
* Opening/closing the doors still trigger the footwell lights.
* Both front and rear roof lights NOT working.

Hope that kinda makes sense as a rough guide.

Thanks for this mate. All other lights are fine, just the interior light. Stealers only want £50 which i was surprised about (was expecting £80-£100) so will just order a new one. Do you know if the GT one (with the mood lights) is the same as whats in a GTI or R32?

Cheers again!

Pilot lights? the red spot lights? GTI has got them, not sure about any other model. But I would of thought they would.

The GT has the same main roof interior light as the GTI but in white. The GTI has the roof all black.
