Title: Edition 30 turbo/lack of power problems
Post by: ryangerry on November 10, 2014, 06:25:02 pm
Today driving home the turbo didn't kick in on my edition 30, any ideas? It also sounds like a diesel sometimes would these be connected?

Thanks for your reply, today on the way home the same again the turbo works fine but after about 10 minutes of driving NO turbo at all. The power has gone! I'm reluctant to take it to a VW dealer because of their prices. I, hoping there is someone around the brighton area that can help me out and maybe run health check on the car with a computer.

Out of curiosity when you turn the car off and back on again, do you get boost again?

Have you checked the Divertor valve? It's a 5 min job which is so easy, your nan could do it  :signLOL:

The Diverter Valve (DV) is so far from the Turb on K04 it's much less of an issue, but definitely check, it's seriously easy.

DV to use: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?page=mods&mod=159

However, it might be your Throttle Body (TB) dieing... not a hard job either.

Hehe, no, Super Gran is required for the K03 location.

Cheers for the replies guys, I have ordered a Revision G diverter valve and will fit this anyway and see what its like, as this is my first turbo car (always owning diesel audi's im failry new to the petrol turbo area, hence the reason i joined here to find out as much as i can. I will fit the new valve tomorrow and see what happens. I'm hoping its just that as i've only had the car a week, i think the cam chain and tensioner might need doing to once warmed up car sounds like a diesel, i am looking for a decent garage in the Brighton area if anyone knows any.

any more tips would be helpful guys.

many thanks

A VCDS cable would be a good investment. You could log the boost. I was only getting 9psi of boost when my DV was bad.

There's a neat little xls that you can plumb the data into, and get a graph output, like this:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.voodish.co.uk%2Fmisc%2FTSiUG-Graph-Smooth.jpg&hash=2f83c982e841126104266f3267099283255590a8)

I'll dig it out.
