Title: RNS310 v RNS315
Post by: JonnyM92 on November 11, 2014, 10:13:09 am

Hi all,

I want to upgrade the h/u on my 06 GTi, I believe there is a possibility that the RNS310 won't give me the dreading battery drain..

However, I would like bluetooth - as well as sat nav. I believe the RNS315 has been seen to have a bluetooth module in built, but not all, whilst the the 310 does not.

Is that the only difference, I thought the 315 was North American, would this have any impact on GPS and the Nav functionality of the unit?

If I went for the RNS310 what would be the best way of getting an OEM bluetooth solution?

Cheers chaps.

Jonny

Hi i have the rns310 in my 06 gttdi and there is no battery drain.
I have bought a v4 map and have full postcode.
It has a sd card for music and also the map and it also works my 6 disc player in my arm rest.
I have bought a parrot 9100 from halfords and it works great with ipod bluetooth music.

If you bought a RNS 315 standard or dab or bluetooth you will need to update the cambus
to an 08>.
I really think if you are thinking of the hassle of getting a new cambus you might as well
go the full hog and get yourself a rns 510.

Cheers Jools.

Good to hear that the 310 didn't give battery drain.

I'm in two minds whether to get the 310 and find another bluetooth solution or just save up more and go balls out with the RNS510 and upgrade the canbus..

how about one of these?

might be less risky than a used OEM one, 1yr warranty etc ..... :popcornsoda:

Fair point, thanks for the heads up. But it's still pretty pricey at £450? Unless you've found them cheaper.

I ideally wanted a 100% OEM solution. Though looking into it it does look like a very good unit. Anyone actually own one?

The 310 is a good choice for the Mk5, completely OEM and no battery drain.

315 is more up to date but doesn't support the Mk5 instrument cluster
