I'm after some advice about upgrading my RNS510 from 2760...
Can I go straight to 4120 and miss out 3810? Can you recommend the best place to get the firmware from?
Would you bother upgrading past 4120? I was having speed cameras and v10 or 11 maps too.
I have a version C RNS510 for info.
Thanks

I believe you can go to the 4120 on your Rev C BUT I have a Rev H and started on 3970 and went to 4120. I'm not saying it will happen but with that firmware I was getting map zoom issues. For example, every time the car was started after an overnight period etc the default zoom would be different. Sometimes it would go from 100yrds, which was my preferred view to a mile. The next time it would be 3 miles. The last time it did it, it had zoomed out to 70 miles!
I was advised to go to 5274 which I have and although it is better, it still does it but not to such extremes.

Ok, good to know. Thanks for the heads up!

No worries mate. I can link you to the 4120 firmware if you wanted to give it a go but tbh I think the only difference between the one you have now is you'll get radio text. I have just downloaded my original 3790 firmware as I was considering downgrading to one I knew worked correctly.

If you wouldn't mind mate, that would be great.

Think this is the one I used http://www.rnsfirmware.com/27/ (http://www.rnsfirmware.com/27/)

Thanks man.

Just looking at that site there is also this one which is the same firmware but has different HD partitions. I'm not sure what size HD will be in your unit.

Just to let you know @Leonpettit (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7100) I have just returned back to 3970 this weekend and the map zoom issue seems to have sorted itself. It also retained the radio text function.
