Post by: PAH on November 15, 2014, 07:12:52 pm
Hi all,

Picked up my MK5 Gti 3dr manual in black yesterday.

Joined the forum recently and enjoyed reading all the info on the site.

Thanks,

Phil

I'm really happy with the car so far. Paint needs a bit of TLC and am tempted to ask for a DA polisher for xmas and set to work on it when the weather drys up. Constantly caked in mud at the moment due to living down country lanes!

Will be servicing it in the New Year, can't decided whether to do it myself or take it to a local specialist (seems you don't get much for your money in a service)

Thanks for looking.

Welcome...

That's a smart motor.

The country lanes are a PITA that's for sure!

As for the servicing, that garage stamp is all important on the service book

Thanks guys, I'm really happy with it.

Saving pennies at the moment, there are a few things i want to do in the new year,
- full service
- detail it (paint is full of swirls)
- Thinking R-Tech stage 1
- new headunit

Phil

I'm not certain yet. Was going to research it further in the new year. At present I want to keep the car pretty standard.

Thanks @KieranR

Hi mate, not really.
Think I'm going to do the precat delete when I get some time.
Would also like a short shifter, looking at the forge replicas at the moment.

Hi guys.

I'm just starting to be able to get some funds together to be able to start doing a few things to the car. I'm trying to work out what would be best. I'm not too fussed about look would just like to make the car handle better.

The car has just been serviced and am going to order a replacement PCV, Rev G diverted valve and cam follower.

I'm going to try and book into R-Tech for stage 1 May/June time. Don't think I want to go further than that.

I do want to make the car handle the best I can over time.

The car is on 82k and I think that the shocks would be too old for a set of springs? Am I right?

It seems that a Rear ARB is a good investment but can this used with standard suspension setup? Or would I be better starting with another mod?
